KATIE SAYS GOODBYE Interview with Writer/Director Wayne Roberts

Living in a struggling desert town in Arizona comprised of little more than a trailer park and a small diner, Katie dreams of a new life in San Francisco. In order to save the necessary funds to leave her desolate town and start anew, she prostitutes herself to a handful of regulars that frequent the diner she waitresses at. As Katie nears the funds for her new life, she encounters a young ex-convict named Bruno. As her relationship with Bruno develops, the delicate harmony of their small town slowly begins to crumble, and the lost and wayward individuals that surround Katie slowly begin to take advantage of her innate kindness. Things quickly spiral out of control, and she is faced with a number of extreme challenges and setbacks. In the end, Katie must either accept her lot and stay in the destitute town she was born into, or pursue a new life despite losing everything to those she loved and trusted.

KATIE SAYS GOODBYE stars Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), Christopher Abbott (Hulu’s “Catch-22,” “Girls” ), Mireille Enos (“The Catch”), Mary Steenburgen (“The Last Man on Earth”) and Jim Belushi (Showtime’s “Twin Peaks”).

KATIE SAYS GOODBYE is award-winning director Wayne Roberts’ first feature, and the film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Roberts also directed The Professor, starring Johnny Depp, Danny Huston, Zoey Deutch, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Ron Livingston. He is presently casting his third feature film, Grace. Born and raised in Alaska, he is a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and splits his time between LA, New York and Sweden.

KATIE SAYS GOODBYE is produced by Eric Schultz of Relic Pictures, Carlo Sirtori, David Steiner and Benjamin Steiner of Parallell Cinéma, and Jake Wasserman and Kimberly Parker of Unknown Subject.
